This guide will provide you will all of the information you will need to setup your ASTRO A20 Wireless with your PlayStation 4.
From the box, remove:
1.0m Micro USB Cable
0.5m Micro USB
A20 Wireless Headset
TOSLink Optical Cable
Before you begin, make sure the console, and A20 Wireless Headset are fully updated. To update the A20 Wireless Headset firmware:
Step 1: Connect the Transmitter (Tx) to a PC or MAC using the 1.0m Micro USB Cable included in the box.
Step 2: Connect the A20 Wireless Headset to the Transmitter (Tx) using the 0.5m Micro USB Cable. Be sure the amber LED charging light on the A20 Headset is on.
Step 3: Switch the Transmitter (Tx) to “PC.”
Step 4: Download and install the ASTRO Command Center.
Step 5: Launch the ACC software. If a software update is available you will be prompted to update your A20 Wireless Headset. Click on “Update” if the prompt is visible and follow the onscreen instructions to update your firmware. If no prompt is shown then you are running the latest firmware.
Step 6: Once your ASTRO A20 Wireless Headset has finished updating, switch the Transmitter (Tx) back to “PS4.”
Step 1: Switch the Transmitter (Tx) to “PS4”.
Step 2: Plug USB Micro cable lead into the Transmitter (Tx) & the USB-A end into the PlayStation 4.
Step 3: Plug the TOSLink optical cable into the PlayStation 4 optical port & plug the other end into the OPT-IN port on the Transmitter (Tx). *Be sure to remove the clear plastic caps from the optical cable before inserting them into their respective devices.
Step 4: On your PS4 home screen, navigate to your PS4 settings then to“Sound and Screen”, and then “Audio Output Settings”.
Step 5: Set your Primary Output Port to DIGITAL OUT (OPTICAL). Make sure you complete this step even if your current setting is already set to this that way you can receive the follow-up screen to be able to select your available audio formats.
Step 6: You will be prompted to select your available audio formats. Make sure “Linear PCM” is checked as a valid option.
Step 7: Be sure to change your “Audio Format (Priority)” to “Linear PCM” on the same “Audio Output Settings” screen after the above step of configuring your Primary Output Port.
Step 8: Navigate back to the PS4 Settings window and select “Devices” followed by “Audio Devices.”
Step 9: Change the Input and Output Device to “USB Headset (ASTRO A20 Wireless).”
Step 10: Select “Output to Headphones” and change it to “Chat Audio.”
