In recent years the world of eSports has exploded in popularity, and 2013 proved that competitive gaming is here to stay. Players like Blizzard/Activison, Riot, & Microsoft are a few of this years top influencers driving the scene and doing it right. Massive tournaments like Starcraft WCS, Call Of Duty Championship, Major League Gaming, & League Of Legends Championship Series are consistently gaining new fans and continue to build a thriving global community.

ASTRO Gaming was born alongside the emerging eSports pros who were in desperate need of quality audio & communication in the live competitive arenas they were competing in. We heard their pleas and our MixAmp & A40 Audio System were born. This communication solution and premium audio experience has become a staple for aspiring & professional gamers. From home to the main stage, we are there, taking your game to the next level.

Throughout the year, Team EnVyUs and OpTic Gaming represented ASTRO in the Call of Duty circuit, consistenly showing an top-tier gameplay. Both teams attended a variety of live events such as MLG, Gfinity, UMG, Shanghai TGC. They also both launched dedicated team houses this year, where the entire team lives and practices together daily, honing their skills to their highest level. All while using their ASTRO gear to live-stream their daily practice for fans. In early 2013 Activision & Microsoft held their annual Million Dollar Call of Duty Championship featuring 32 of the worlds best Black Ops 2 teams where EnVyUs earned 2nd place taking home $200,000, and OpTic took 3rd earning them $120,000.

Evil Geniuses is one of the most diverse pro organizations out there. You can watch them throw down in a number of games like Starcraft, Dota 2, Street Fighter, and more. To highlight their presence in the Starcraft scene, Astro was represented by EG at Blizzard Entertainment‘s “Blizzcon” convention, which is always a big hit with the fans from all the Blizzard games. The addition of Starcraft’s World Championship Series kicked the already popular convention into overdrive. This year, Evil Geniuses – Jaedong put up an incredible fight at the event finishing 2nd place in the 2013 WCS Grand Finals. Some other top accomplishments for 2013 from EG include: EG HuK‘s 1st place finish at the MLG Summer Invite & EG Revival earning 1st place at the Intel Extreme Masters in Shanghai.

Riot Games‘ free to play MOBA, League Of Legends and the LCS League of Legends Championship Series has taken the world by storm, and ASTRO pro teams, Cloud 9 and Team SoloMid both destroyed the North American competition this year. Cloud9 had a 13 game win streak with a 25-3 record, taking 1st place for NA LCS Season 3. Team SoloMid is known for their a well respected roster, and this year they took 2nd place at NA LCS Season 3. The 2013 LCS Worlds will go down in the record books as one of the biggest and best eSports events to date, and 2014 looks very promising for Cloud 9 and Team SoloMid.

The ASTRO Pro Teams had a great 2013 season taking home a number of impressive wins, giving fans a year of eSports they won’t soon forget.
