ASTRO PLAYS: e3 2014

Our feet are sore, the dust has settled, another E3 has passed us by. It’s always hard not to hit a kind of low after a convention. The adrenaline and excitement of an intense 3 days filled with all the things we love… But on the bright side, we have a lot of amazing games to look forward to to stave off the post-con depression.

Naturally there is a lot of hype for additions to the new Halo franchise but understandably it’s still too early to get our hands on anything to test run, but the ASTRO Family had quite a bit to say about their excitement regarding some of the other titles we saw on the show floor.

“Destiny would have to be my favorite one. It felt a lot like Halo 2–one of the best games I ever played–one of the games I spent a lot of time playing as a kid. Having a chance to play a game like that was very nostalgic. And getting a chance to play  multiplayer–which is obviously something I love to do–I felt at home. “

“Borderlands the Pre-Sequel looks great. Kingdom Hearts III–I know they announced it last year, but I am so bummed they don’t have anything to play for Kingdom Hearts III this year–my whole world is that game. I’m really stoked for it. Also the new Assassin’s Creed. You can play with people now, and that’s the coolest thing, I’m going to have so much fun with that. Multiplayer campaign–I’m so stoked. I mean, that’s one of the reasons why I loved Borderlands so much.”

“Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare. I actually went to a media briefing and they showed us clips from the alpha build and I just… But I’m really excited to stream EA Sports UFC. I’m definitely going to be streaming on ASTRO Stream Team day one for 12 to 24 hours. Career mode, incorporate “game face”, I wanna be in the game, just like EA says.”

Personally? I’m particularly excited for Dragon Age: Inquisition. An open world meets my favorite character story arcs and beautiful graphics. Seriously. I had to wipe a little drool from the corner of my mouth when I got the media preview.

Nintendo made what quite a few people are calling a great comeback, with an open world Zelda game, Mario Builder (where you too can torture your friends by building near impossible Mario game levels) and Yoshi’s Wooly World which even the most hard core of us will begrudgingly admit is absolutely adorable and a lot of fun to play. Seriously, look at that yarn-Yoshi and try not to inwardly “Aww”. We dare you.

The ASTRO Community team scoured the E3 show floor to bring as much of the experience right to you. After all, you’re family, we couldn’t leave you out on the action.

While the Community team was busy capturing E3 in a camera lens for your enjoyment, the rest of the ASTRO Family was busy spreading the word about ASTRO gear And we’re excited to announce their hard work earned our soon-to-be released A38 headsets won the Best of E3 award from both CVG and Hardcore Gamer.

But perhaps most exciting of all was watching one of ASTRO’s very own, Gonzalo “ZeRo” Barrios of CLASH Tournaments, win the first ever Nintendo Super Smash Brothers E3 Invitational.

So after all is said and done, it was a successful week. It’s going to be an amazing year for gaming and we couldn’t be happier to share it with you.

Even if we are already counting down the days til next year. ;D
