It’s the last Friday of the month–Wait, where did the rest of March go?–which means it’s time for an update from our HQ in San Francisco so you know what’s going on, what you’ve missed and what’s coming up in the near future.
Thanks to a collaboration with Endless Ammo, our signature urban flak jacket will be back in stock soon with a whole new look. Keeping in tune with Endless Ammo’s “classic style and covert appeal”, we drew from the competitive lifestyle of the eSports arena to bring you outerwear that’s sleek, comfortable, and ready for anything. A formidable opponent against any weather, we’ve equipped the flak jacket with the latest technology:
*Nano sphere tech (water and stain resistant fabric).
*Endless Ammo patented F-stop cargo pockets with 3/4″ grommet to route wires inside of jacket.
*Inner jacket wire routing to neck (doubles as headphone wire retainer.)
*Fleece lined for protection against the elements
*Velcro patch system (removable, swapable, interchangeable)
*Water proof ziper seals.
*Articulated underarm with ventilation,
*Reinforced elbow patches
At ASTRO we’ve always believed how hard you play should not be dictated by the limits of your gear, and we could not have chosen a better day to announce our newly designed pro-wear. Which is why you’ll be able to see our new flak jackets in action with some of our pro teams. As you know, today also kicks off a major event for us, the Call of Duty Championships. Thirty-two teams go in, only one comes out.
If you’re new to the eSports arena, this may be a bit overwhelming, but we’ve made sure to make a map of sorts of how the event works so you don’t get lost.
Starting today, seven of our teams will be going head to head for a million dollar prize pool–and while this may be the largest event they competed in, it certainly isn’t the only one this month.
Team EnVy CSGO won the Gfinity CS Masters last weekend (pictured above). They also placed 3rd/4th at ESL One Katowice.
If you’re more of a Counter Strike fan, or just feel like bouncing between two fierce competitions, you can show your support for Team EnVy CSGO by watching the SLTV StarSeries Season 12 finals today through Sunday.
OpTic Gaming came out victorious in the Call of Duty North American Championship, advancing them to compete in the World Championships happening in Los Angeles today. It’s a good year to be part of the GreenWall.
Fan excitement can only fuel the many great things to come as it was confirmed earlier this month that both OpTic Gaming and Team Infused would be participating in the eSports World Cup (ESWC) at Paris Games Week.
Major League Gaming announced this Wednesday that they will once again be joining up with ESPN to bring eSports to XGames in Austin in June. They will be inviting the top teams from the Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare Pro League Season 2 to compete, and for the first time in history, they will also be bringing Dota 2 competitors to the festival.
Tickets are available now, and while it may seem soon, they do go fast.
Off the pro-circuit, in partnership with Beyond Entertainment, we held the ASTRO Spartans: March Madness where players competed in a Halo 2 Anniversary 2v2 tournament. @SpartanTheDogg and @eLToWn_CbK came out on top in the end and took home a pair of Halo A50s each. A huge congratulations to them both. Make sure you’re subscribed to our Twitter feed to keep informed about upcoming tournaments. We’ll definitely be having more in the future, so stick around for a chance to test your skill and go home with the prize. It’s free to enter!
Now, a lot of the excitement may be focused in Los Angeles, CA right now, but Insomnia54 is just around the corner. If you’re attending the UK’s biggest gaming festival this April 3rd – 6th, be sure to keep your eye out for the ASTRO Booth. This will be one of our first European community events and we’re excited to meet our ASTRO family across the pond, so stop by and say hello–we’ll be supplying all your favorite merchandise as well as hosting a station where players can engage in 5v5 on Battlefield™ Hardline.
We’ve got a lot of events that’s been taking us away from home the past month, but that hasn’t stopped us from partnering with new talent and expanding our Stream Team.
Seven new streamers joined us in March. Stop by their Twitch channels to congratulate them, welcome them to the ASTRO Family, and see what their stream is all about. We’re excited to introduce you to all of them.
We’ll be following the Call of Duty Championships this weekend, both on the arena floor and on stream. Join us on Twitter to keep up with the action. Thank you for a wonderful March, everyone. We’ll see you in April.
