ASTRO’s Stream Team consists of hand-picked live-streamers of varying interests and styles. On top of hosting on the ASTRO channel, they run their own streams and provide monthly give-aways of ASTRO products.
Lauren, or Laced Up Lauren as she’s known in the Twitch.tv world is a solo streamer from Ohio most recognizeable by her bright red hair and tattoos. She delights in first person shooters but you’ll find a wide range of games on her stream. Laid back and community driven, she keeps interaction going with her chat with a friendly atmosphere fueled by good tunes and laughter.
ASTRO: How did you first get into gaming?
Lauren: My father actually! When I was really young playing games like frogger or pacman was our bonding time.
ASTRO: What game(s) are you currently playing?
Lauren: I’m having a blast streaming Destiny and Call Of Duty. I’m also really enjoying H1Z1 Early Access at the moment!
ASTRO: Which game(s) or game series has been with you the longest? What can you not get enough of?
Lauren: The first series that I ever fell in love with is Borderlands. My fellow red head, Lilith the Siren, is one of my favorite gaming characters. I’m also a huge fan of the lore and atmosphere of the Bioshock series.
ASTRO: What is your favorite game-related memory and why?
Lauren: To be honest, picking one thing is pretty difficult! Video games have been with me since I was little. I can think of so many positive things that happen to me because of gaming. The friendships I’ve made, the laughs, the heartbreak of finishing a campaign, and of course the great community of people I have behind my stream are all important to me.
ASTRO: What do you hope to see in the future of gaming?
Lauren: To see the gaming community to evolve into something even bigger than what it is now. To also have people come together to express their love for something they all have in common; gaming, no matter who they are or where they are from.
ASTRO: If you could tell your younger-self one thing, what would you say?
Lauren: Always try to work and strive for things that make you happy. Life is too short to hold onto negativity.
ASTRO: What advice would you give to someone who wants to do what you do?
Lauren: To never give up, no matter what others tell you. Work hard to achieve the things you want most in life, because anything in life worth having is worth working hard for.
ASTRO: What, in your opinion, makes your stream unique and awesome?
Lauren: I pride myself on the level of interaction with the chat and I try to make sure every viewer feels welcome. I’ve been told I multitask very well with reading/responding and also playing. I really put everything I can into my stream, since I feel like my stream is a product of who I am. So I try to work the hardest I can to make it the best it can be.
ASTRO: What has been your favorite game to stream thus far?
Lauren: Again, its very hard thing to pick a favorite. I’ve had a blast on streaming The Last Of Us, Black Ops 2, Destiny, Borderlands, and more! I really only stream games that I really enjoy, so I can put the best content out there.
ASTRO: Which Astros are your favorite to use?
Lauren: My favorite are the new 2015 Astro a50s! I absolutely love less wires around me so the wireless feature on the A50s make them great. Not to mention streaming for hours and hours, I believe Astros are the most comfortable headset I’ve ever tried. I put a sticker of my ‘Laced Up Lauren Character’ on the side of the tags!
ASTRO: What do you do when you’re not streaming? (Other jobs/School/gaming goals etc)
Lauren: Other things beside streaming? I just sit in my chair, staring, waiting till the next stream time…
Haha! Actually, I try to spend any extra time I have with friends, family, and the people I care about. I guess I spend my time doing pretty normal things that everyone else does!
ASTRO: What about your hobbies—those fabled things you do for fun when you’re not gaming?
Lauren: I really love painting, art, anything of the type. I have a huge passion for tattoos, and was apprenticing as a tattoo artist for a while! So I spend any extra time trying to improve those skills or add to my ever growing collection of tattoos. I could talk about my love and passion for tattoos for days and days so I’ll just stop now haha!
ASTRO: Favorite vacation spot?
Lauren: I haven’t traveled around too much because I have a slight fear of flying, haha! But I have been to California and enjoyed the atmosphere and the weather there a lot!
ASTRO: Best movie of all time in your opinion?
Lauren: Again, I am the worst to ask for favorite because I can never commit to picking just one! But to give you an idea some of my favorites are: Gladiator, Donnie Darko, Spirited Away, Step Brothers, Anchorman, and many more!
ASTRO: The music that is, to put it succinctly, “your jam”?
Lauren: One of my favorite things to talk about! I have a very long list and wide range of music taste. One moment I could be listening to Chiodos or The Word Alive and the next I could be listening to Katy Perry. I love Logic, G-Eazy, Gambino, Jonny Craig, Justin Timberlake, The Pretty Reckless, PVRIS, Paramore, and more and more and more haha! Of course one of my all time favorites is Stevie Ray Vaughan. I’m always updating my playlist, and searching for new things to listen to. To summarize I listen to pretty much everything, love my Hip-Hop/Rap, rock, and Electronic music. Pretty much anything besides country!
ASTRO: And speaking of jam—what’s your favorite food?
Lauren: Steak, Chinese Food, or McDonalds fries are my go to food.
ASTRO: Best brain food (books, a quote, tv shows etc):
Lauren: One of my all time favorite Shows is “Sons Of Anarchy”, there are a lot of good quotes and thought provoking moments in that show.
But to end on a more profound note: ‘A Lion Never Lose Sleep Over The Opinions Of The Sheep.”
