This guide will provide you will all of the information you will need to setup your ASTRO A50 Wireless + Base Station with your PC or Mac.
PC Setup
From the box, remove:
- Micro USB Cable
- Optical Cable
- A50 Wireless Headset
- Base Station
Before you begin, make sure the A50 Wireless + Base Station is fully updated to the latest available firmware through the ASTRO Command Center.
To update the A50 Wireless + Base Station firmware:
Step 1. Connect the Base Station to your PC using the Micro USB Cable that was included.
Step 2. Place the A50 Headset in the Base Station and make sure the charging lights turn on.
Step 3. Switch the Base Station into PC Mode using the Mode Switch on the right side of Base Station.
Step 4. Download and install the ASTRO Command Center You can find the ASTRO Command Center Software here: ASTROGaming.com/acc.
Step 5. Run the ACC software and follow the onscreen instructions to update your A50 Wireless + Base Station firmware. If your Audio System is running the latest available firmware then you will not be prompted to update.
To Connect your A50 Wireless + Base Station to your PC
Step 1. Plug the Micro USB end of the USB cable into the back of the Base Station in the port marked “USB.”
Step 2. Plug the other end of the USB cable into one of the USB ports on your computer.
To Set Up Your A50 Wireless + Base Station with a PC
Step 1. Switch the Base Station into PC Mode using the Mode Switch on the right side of Base Station.
Step 2. Right click the speaker icon in your computer’s taskbar and select “Playback devices.”
Step 3. Select Astro A50 Game, then right click & set as Default Device.
Step 4. Select Astro A50 Voice, then right click & set as Default Communication Device.
Step 5. Navigate to the Recording tab in the “Sound” options panel.
Step 6. Select Astro A50 Voice, then right click & set as Default Device.
Step 7. That’s it! Your A50 Wireless Headset and PC are set up and ready to game!
Recording Device
ASTRO A50 Voice: 16bit 16kHz microphone – so your team can hear you
ASTRO A50 Game: Fully configurable in ASTRO Command Center. Allows you to select between your game audio, chat audio, microphone and analog aux-in port. Intended for streaming or recording your audio during gameplay.
Playback Device
ASTRO A50 Voice: 2 Channel 16bit 16kHz audio – intended for hearing incoming voice audio in chat programs and in game chat
ASTRO A50 Game: 6 channel PCM 16bit 48kHz Surround sound audio – intended for Game Audio
Mac Setup
From the box, remove:
- Micro USB Cable
- Optical Cable
- A50 Wireless Headset
- Base Station

Step 2. Place the A50 Headset in the Base Station and make sure the charging lights turn on.
Step 3. Switch the Base Station into PC Mode using the Mode Switch on the right side of Base Station.
Step 4. Download and install the ASTRO Command Center You can find the ASTRO Command Center Software here: ASTROGaming.com/acc.
Step 5. Run the ACC software and follow the onscreen instructions to update your A50 Wireless + Base Station firmware. If your Audio System is running the latest available firmware then you will not be prompted to update.
To Connect your A50 Wireless + Base Station on your Mac
Step 1. Plug the Micro USB end of the USB cable into the back of the Base Station in the port marked “USB.”

Step 1. Switch the Base Station into PC Mode using the Mode Switch on the right side of Base Station.
Step 2. Click the Apple icon in your menu bar, select “System Preferences” and then navigate to the Sound preferences menu.
Step 3. Navigate to the Output tab, then locate and select Astro A50 Game to set it as your audio output.
Step 4. Navigate to the Input tab, then locate and select Astro A50 Voice to set it as your microphone input.
Step 5. That’s it! Your A50 Wireless Headset and Mac are set up and ready to game.
