Step by Step
Step 1: Make sure that your MixAmp Pro TR is updated to the latest available firmware from the ASTRO Command Center Software using a PC or Mac by following the instructions in this quick video tutorial.
Step 2: Make sure your Xbox Series X|S system is turned on.
Step 3: Download the Dolby Access app on your Xbox Series X|S.
Step 4: Connect the A40 Inline Mute Cable with your A40 TR Headset firmly until you can no longer see the 3.5mm jack. The end closest to the mute switch should be connected with your headset.
Step 5: Connect the other end of the A40 Inline Mute Cable into the headset port on the front of the MixAmp Pro TR.
Step 6: Connect the Micro USB end of the cable that came with your MixAmp into the MixAmp Pro TR where you see the USB label.
Step 7: Connect the USB-A end of that same cable into a USB-A port on your Xbox Series X|S console. If your Xbox is powered on, this headset should be assigned to you if you’re signed in. If multiple users are signed in, be sure to specify which user the headset should be assigned to.
Step 8: Open your Xbox Series X|S menu by pressing the Xbox button on your controller. Head to the Settings menu.
Step 9: Choose the Volume & audio output settings menu.
Step 10: Under Volume & audio output, ensure that the Party chat output is set to Headset.
Step 11: Under Headset audio, ensure that the Headset format is set to Dolby Atmos for Headphones, even if you’re using 2-channel stereo.
Step 12: Launch the Dolby Access app on your Xbox Series X|S console. The Xbox/PC version of the Gen 4 MixAmp Pro TR has a lifetime Dolby Atmos license and is automatically detected by the Dolby Access app.
Step 13: Open the Settings menu within the Dolby Access app.
Step 14: Choose from the EQ presets for your MixAmp Pro TR or create a custom EQ profile of your own. If you do not want virtualized surround sound you may disable the surround virtualizer at the bottom of your custom EQ. The Custom EQ will still be applied to your stereo sound.
**Important Note: The Dolby Access app EQ profiles override the existing profiles on the MixAmp Pro TR. The MixAmp’s on-device EQ profiles will not be applied to the USB audio received from the Xbox Series X|S. Also, Dolby surround sound (surround virtualization) is processed through the Dolby Access app in this configuration and the MixAmp’s Dolby button can be turned off. Read more about Dolby Atmos and Xbox Series X|S audio.
Step 15: Close out the menu and start up your favorite game.
You’re good to go! Be sure to check in-game options regarding potential player muting or other audio setup, as these features can differ from game to game.
